New fabric, new kitchen, new rug and a paddling pool :)

I woke up to a lovely package this morning...

My Peter Rabbit fabric for patchwork quilt :)

I'm very pleased with it, the fabric consists of 18 panels so easy to cut up into patchwork squares.
I also forgot to mention i got a rag rug from the car-boot on Sunday for £1! Think it will going in our bedroom...

Been cleaning the kitchen ALL DAY! But it is spotless, and my new teapot has pride and place on my windowsill, now all i need is for my herbs to grow! Clock is up, and teacups are on display. When i have FINALLY finished, i will put a picture up :)

I did make some more candles today, but when they started to dry the tops of the wax started to sink. Is this normal?

On another not I'm actually quite pleased that it rained today, it's been so hot the last few days. And it's going to be another hot one this weekend!
Finlay definatley wasn't complaining, he loved playing in his paddling pool at his Nanny and Grampys house :)

Hope you all had a lovely day, any plans for the coming week/weekend?
Love to you all, Jodi xx

Bootsale Bargains!

Today, Me, Finlay and the in-laws went to our local car boot to find some bargains. And boy did we get some!
I was mainly looking for nice little teacups to make some more candles, and a wax burner for when i buy some lovely Wax Melts from KandiPandii :)
This is what i managed to haul...

New clock to go with my new Shabby Chic Kitchen, only 20p

Egg cups, 4 for £1

I LOVE Whittards, and was very pleased to find and buy this for just 50p!
Love collecting 'Soup Recipe' Mugs, bargain at 50p
Wax Burner 25p
Saw this and had to have it at just 25p!
Managed to get all these lovely vintage teacups and saucers for £2

I have a good eye when it comes to boot sales, and i did find a beautiful sewing box. But it was so damaged i don't think i could have restored it which was a shame. I got a few toys and a paddling pool to keep at 'Nana and Grampys' for Finlay, so he was very happy
(Not that he needed any more toys...)
But Mummy got some goodies so it was only fair Finlay got some too, and he had ice-cream!
Hope you all had a lovely day, it was scorching :)
If you were out in the sun i hope you all put plenty of sun cream on unlike me! Haha..

Love to you all, Jodi xx

A very productive day...

Another rainy day in Oxford, which means i can relax and get out my books! One of my absolute favourite books at the moment is 'Kirstie Allsopps Homemade Home' She is such an inspiring and creative woman. There are lots of lovely things i want to try my hand at, especially Candle Making and Fabric Decoupage.

I tried making her 'Teacup Candle' unfortunatley i don't have any fancy or vintage teacups, but found some standard ones that would do the job! These were just plain unscented natural wax candles, maybe when i'm a bit more advanced i can try scented/colour ones!

I will be keeping these ones i think :)

Candle Teacup in need of a home!

This was my first go, so i think i  might keep the blue teacups as they'll look lovely in my bathroom. Once i get my hand on some more cups (Currently raiding the Charity shops) i can make some more, and hopefully sell them on my stall at the Oxford Craft Market.

A new way to Recycle :)

Spent most of yesterday with the In-Laws deciding what clothes to give away to charity, what to throw away and what to keep. Me and my Partner still had loads of our clothes round their house from when we were living there last year. I did not realize what a lover of clothes i really am... I have so many, most of them still with tags on! I found a lovely tshirt that was only worn a couple of times but didn't want to part with it. It reminded me of the '100 Acre Wood' from Winnie The Pooh, which worked for me as Finlays room is based on the story.

I had a spare cushion, so thought i'd make a new one to go on his nursing chair in his room. It turned out just the right size for my cushion insert.

After :)
Really pleased with it, and Finlay approved too!
I will be making some more cushions soon, cutting out all my patchwork squares tonight. So more cushions on the way! Hope all my followers are all well and had a great weekend, love to you all xx

Pins & Needles...

I made my very first Pin Cushion today! I'm quite pleased with it actually although the stitching could have been better, it is my first one after all!I cut out all my felt pieces the other day but was just waiting on my coloured thread to arrive. I was trying to think of what to fill it with, many people said cotton, but i had a look at a few websites and other crafters said they used a mixture of sawdust and rice. The sawdust helps keep the needles/pins sharp, while the rice stops it from rusting. I gave it a go, and it's got a nice weight to it, and works really well. I will try using cotton filling next time and compare them both.

What do you think..?
First try at a Blanket Stitch, not too bad eh?

I also made some candles today, it's been a while! I made my first candle when i was 12 years old, i was so proud of it i never wanted to use it. But i did eventually use it 5 years later when we had a blackout... And after today i will certainly be making lots more :)

New Business Opportunity!

Got some really great news!

I'm really getting into this Craft making, and I've been given a great business opportunity to sell my crafts.
I'm putting my heart and soul into this, and really looking forward to the next few months. I will be selling my crafts at a local Craft Market in Oxford, a range will include Hand-made Cards, Cushions, Candles, Illustrations, Bunting, Clothes, Small home crafts and much much more... Oh! AND... I will be selling my photography as prints, I'm only doing limited quantities :)

I've been struggling to find a job that is flexible enough to work round my Son, so this is the perfect job for me! I'm only working 3 hours a day, everyday. So i have enough time for my household duties and spending time with my Son.

Rainy days and polka dots...

Another rainy day in Oxford, so i got my sewing machine out and made some Polka dot Bunting :) Finlay took a long nap so it was a great opportunity to make something! Only took me 45 minutes to cut out all the fabric and stitch it together. I have got some lovely pink fabric too, but just waiting on some vintage floral fabric to use with it.

Currently waiting on a few fabrics and goodies and looking forward to sharing my creations with you! On another note,  i found this lovely little wicker basket in a charity shop yesterday, a bargain at just £1!! For now its a storage basket for my patchwork squares and buttons :)

Hope everyone is having a good day and not letting the weather get them down, Love to you all xx

Always eat your fruits!

Me and Finlay were tired of waiting for Daddy to get home from work, so we decided to make some Home-Grown Strawberry's covered in chocolate for dessert :) Don't they look yummy?

My lovely flowers are finally starting to grow :)

Here we have some Sweet Williams, Marigolds, Pansys and Gerebra Daisys :)
After a glum few weeks, i'm looking forward to seeing a bit of colour on my Balcony! Just waiting on my Lavender to grow so i can make more Lavender bags.

Ok, here it goes...

Hello Everyone :)
This is the first time i've created a Blog, and this is my first ever post!
